Privacy Policy

The short version

• Your farm data stays on your device. Sales, costs, events, notes, photos, blocks and crops are stored locally on your iPhone using Apple's on-device database. We cannot see them.
• We don't sell your data. Not now, not ever. There is no advertising in Furrowed.
• We collect the minimum. If you join the waitlist, we hold your email address. On our website we also use privacy-friendly product analytics to see which pages and features people find useful.
• You can delete everything at any time, from the app or by writing to us.

Who we are

Furrowed ("Furrowed", "we", "us") is the maker of the Furrowed mobile app for tracking the profit of a small farm. You can reach us at hello@furrowed.app for any privacy question or request.

What the app stores, and where

Furrowed is a local-first app. The information you enter — every sale, cost, event, note, photo, block, crop and crop cycle — is stored in a database on your own device. By default this data does not leave your phone and is not transmitted to us or anyone else.

If you enable Apple iCloud backup or device sync, copies of your app data may be stored in your personal iCloud account under Apple's terms. That copy is yours and is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy, not ours — we have no access to it.

Photos and the camera

If you attach a photo to a log — a receipt, a plant, a field — that image is stored with your records on your device. Furrowed only accesses your camera or photo library when you ask it to, and only takes the specific photo you choose. We do not scan your wider photo library.

Optional AI assistance

Some features may offer to help you turn a photo or a sentence into a structured log (for example, reading a total off a receipt). These features are optional and run only on the specific item you submit. When you use them, the content you submit for that request may be sent to a third-party AI processing provider solely to return the result to you.

• We only send the content you explicitly choose to process — never your whole record.
• We do not use your farm data to train AI models, and we instruct our providers not to either.
• If you never use these features, none of your content is ever sent off your device for them.

The waitlist

If you sign up on our website, we collect your email address so we can tell you when Furrowed launches. We use Loops to manage that list. We use your email only to send launch and product updates about Furrowed. Every email includes a one-click unsubscribe, and you can ask us to delete your address at any time.

Website analytics

On the furrowed.app website we use PostHog, a product-analytics tool, to understand how the site is used — for example, which pages are visited and whether people find the information they came for. This helps us improve the site.

• This applies to the website only. The app itself stays local-first, as described above.
• We use it for aggregate, first-party measurement — we don't use it to build advertising profiles or track you across other sites.
• PostHog processes this data on our behalf as a service provider. We don't sell it, and we collect no more than we need.

Diagnostics

If you download the app from the App Store, Apple may share aggregate, anonymous statistics (such as download counts and crash rates) with us through App Store Connect. This information is not tied to your identity and we cannot use it to identify you. You control crash and usage sharing in your device's privacy settings.

What we do not do

• We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information.
• We do not show you advertising or share your data with advertisers.
• We do not require an account or a login to use the app.
• We do not track you across other apps or websites.

Your rights

Because your farm records live on your device, you are in direct control of them: you can edit or delete any entry, or remove the app to erase its local data. For data we do hold — your waitlist email — you can ask us to access, correct, or delete it by writing to hello@furrowed.app. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or the CCPA; we honour those requests for everyone.

Children

Furrowed is intended for adults running or working a farm. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle data, we'll update this page and move the "last updated" date above. For significant changes, we'll do our best to give notice in the app or by email.
